Where: Yarrawara Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Corindi Beach
When: 01/08/2026,

Albany, a Kalkadoon woman based on Bundjalung Country, is a visual artist and art educator with close to 30 years of experience. Her practice spans painting and ceramics, reflecting a deep and ongoing investigation of Country as both lived and inherited experience.

Through Salt and Stone, Albany explores the enduring relationship between people, place, and material, drawing on cultural memory and embodied knowledge. Her work reflects the layered narratives of Country, where salt and stone become metaphors for resilience, connection, and continuity across generations.

Alongside Salt and Stone is the annual All Fired Up exhibition, showcasing First Nations ceramics. The exhibition continues to push the boundaries of contemporary art and cultural expression, featuring works created through our Up Your Arts program. This multi-layered First Nations arts leadership initiative is focused on sustained capacity building, professional development, and long-term investment in emerging and established artists. The program supports participants to develop new work for major national art fairs as well as exhibitions at Wadjar Regional Indigenous Gallery.

The 2026 ‘All Fired Up’ exhibition will feature a striking coolamon installation created by First Nations women, led by Donna Albany through a ceramic workshop at the recent Mother Spirit Gathering.

Yarrawarra’s fully equipped onsite pottery studio continues to support experimentation with ceramics, offering artists access to materials, tools, and techniques not always readily available.

In July school holidays, visitors can also experience the popular family-friendly Flavours of the Bush tours. These guided walks explore Gumbaynggirr coastal heathland, sharing knowledge of native foods, ancient medicines, and cultural plant use, followed by a bush tucker tasting. The one-hour tour is accessible to all ages, with participants encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water, sun protection, and a sense of curiosity.
