Wynne Prize 2025

Grafton Regional Gallery welcomes the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ prestigious Wynne Prize 2025 touring exhibition to the Clarence Valley.

The $50,000 Wynne Prize is judged by the trustees of the Art Gallery of New South Wales and is awarded to the best landscape painting of Australian scenery or figurative sculpture. It is Australia’s oldest art prize. Following exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Wynne Prize 2025 finalist works are touring to venues in regional New South Wales, with Grafton Regional Gallery being the final stop.

The Wynne Prize 2025 exhibition has close to 50 works, selected from over 750 entries to the prize. 2025 was a record year for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, with 22 finalists presented in the exhibition.

“The Wynne Prize holds a special place in our nation’s culture, both as Australia’s oldest art prize and as the cornerstone of landscape painting and figurative sculpture,’ said Jane Kreis, Director, Grafton Regional Gallery. ‘Being able to experience the richness and excellence embodied in the Wynne Prize 2025 at Grafton Regional Gallery is a special opportunity for our local community and visitors. It also highlights the valuable partnership between the Art Gallery of NSW and our region.’

The Wynne Prize 2025 regional tour is proudly supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW’s Blockbusters Funding initiative.

While Wynne Prize 2025 is on show, Grafton Regional Gallery will present several public programs to support the exhibition, including an official opening celebration, artist talk, and urban landscape sketching workshop.
