Winter Art
Nexus Art Gallery in Bellingen presents a dynamic series
of exhibitions this Winter.
REIMAGINED: from now until 18 June | Nexus Art Gallery hosts Reimagined by Cynthia Miller, alongside John’s Folly by John Biggart. Miller’s exhibition is a celebration of colour and exuberance, reflecting her abiding interest in larger-than-life images with a slightly naïve twist. Her works emerge entirely from her imagination, giving her excellent scope for a semi-abstract style and a freedom of expression that offers constant surprises and enduring pleasure.
Biggart’s John’s Folly is a culmination of ideas drawn from many trips around Australia. He believes it is vital for an artist to travel, to experience different landscapes and to meet other artists. Although health reasons now prevent him from travelling, he continues to draw on sketches, watercolours and photographs from past journeys, transforming them into new works that carry the spirit of exploration and discovery into the present.
The Winter Members Exhibition: 21st June to 16th July | This seasonal members’ exhibition hosted by Nexus Community Gallery, is part of the creative hub at the Old Butter Factory in Bellingen. It brings together local and regional artists working across a range of mediums and showcases the diversity and vitality of the area’s creative community. The exhibition sits within an ongoing program of shows at Nexus that highlight the work of both emerging and more established artists, with a strong emphasis on community connection and support for local creativity.
