Small Sculpture Prize
The Urunga Small Sculpture Prize for 2026 will be exhibited at Art Space Urunga from the 19th of September.
What: Small Sculpture Prize
Where: Art Space Gallery, Urunga
When: 19 September (opening ceremony 10.30am - 12pm) - 17 October
This national prize continues to grow in reputation and reach, with 204 entries received this year from every state and territory in Australia. This represents a 20% increase on last year, which was itself a significant rise from previous years.
There is no overarching theme, and as usual the entries reflect a wide range of approaches. Many works this year have drawn inspiration from the natural world and the environment.
The gallery is honoured to have as the 2026 judges, Tina Wilson and Michael Bell. Tina has been the curator of the Tweed Regional Gallery and the Margaret Ollie Centre since 2022, and Michael is a Newcastle-based artist who has been creating and exhibiting his artwork nationally and internationally for over 45 years. The winners will be announced at the official opening on Saturday 19 September, from 10am to midday. Visitors will also be invited to vote for the People’s Choice Prize of $1,000, which will be awarded at the end of the exhibition.
The Art Space Gallery would like to acknowledge and express appreciation to their sponsors, whose support makes the Urunga Small Sculpture Prize possible.
