Nexus Gallery: October

As the Spring Members Exhibition draws to a close, Nexus Art Gallery in Bellingen prepares to welcome two new exhibitions exploring abstraction, fibre, landscape and the emotional spaces between darkness and light.

Spring Members Exhibition: closing soon

Don’t miss the final days of the Spring Members Exhibition at Nexus Art Gallery, Bellingen. Showcasing the creative energy and diversity of the gallery’s membership, the exhibition offers an opportunity to experience a broad range of artistic perspectives within one engaging collection.

The exhibition runs until 8 October, then makes way for two concurrent exhibitions opening on 11 October: Fibre Artists Network’s Abstraction in Action and Ingrid Behage’s The Space Between – Ora.

Ingrid Behage: The Space Between – Ora
11 Oct – 5 Nov

Ingrid Behage’s exhibition, The Space Between – Ora, brings together raw and evocative works shaped by rupture, renewal and the search for stillness. Born beneath Nicaragua’s vivid colours, informed by Holland’s artistic traditions and transformed by Australia’s wild landscape, Behage’s practice inhabits the tension between darkness and light.

These works invite contemplation of the spaces that exist between opposing states: movement and stillness, loss and renewal, shadow and illumination. Within this threshold, Behage discovers a fragile yet enduring sense of presence.

Abstraction in Action
11 Oct – 5 Nov

The Fibre Artists Network’s newest exhibition, Abstraction in Action, explores the expressive potential of fibre through the fundamental elements of design: line, texture and colour. Across the exhibition, these qualities are manipulated, layered and transformed, revealing the versatility of fibre as an artistic medium.

Each artist responds to the theme in their own distinctive way, creating a collection that moves between structure, gesture and materiality. Viewers are invited to look closely, make connections and construct their own interpretations.
