NAIDOC Gathering

Presented by Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance, the event centres around Your Story, My Story, Our Story – Onemobdreaming, the current exhibition by respected artist Uncle Allan Phillips. Through vibrant artworks and personal storytelling, the exhibition explores identity, community and the stories that connect us.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet Uncle Allan, yarn about his creative practice and gain deeper insight into the ideas behind the exhibition. Throughout the day, guests can explore the exhibition, connect with community and enjoy a welcoming space for conversation, reflection and creativity.

A highlight of the day will be the Traditional Mini Canoe Building Workshop with Uncle John Kelly, offering participants aged 6 and over a hands-on opportunity to learn about culture, craftsmanship and connection to waterways. Visitors can also relax at the Tea & Yarn Station hosted by Aunty Sue from Bush Tucker Shack and browse a specially curated NAIDOC gift shop display featuring Aboriginal-made gifts, books, jewellery, homewares and artworks.

Additional creative experiences and activities will be available throughout the day, with opportunities for visitors of all ages to participate and contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of the gathering.

Join us as we celebrate NAIDOC Week through art, storytelling, culture and community connection.
