MVCAG
This August, Macleay Valley Community Art Gallery presents two compelling exhibitions exploring how art reflects our inner and outer worlds.
What: Choosing Life / Tides & Terrain exhibitions
Where: Macleay Valley Community Art Gallery, Gladstone
When: 29 July - 30 Aug
Choosing Life (Wed 29 July – Sun 9 Aug) features Beth Andrews, Cherie Amore and Laura Erickson. Beth’s love of beautiful spaces and her late-blooming passion for painting celebrate the richness of everyday life.
Cherie’s acrylic works honour the special places and moments that shape her journey as she consciously chooses life and creativity.
Laura, long captivated by light, colour and form as a photographer, now pursues these same fascinations through abstract painting. Meet the artists on Sat 1 Aug, 12–3pm.
Tides and Terrain (Wed 12 Aug – Sun 30 Aug, opening Sun 16 Aug) brings together Brian Barker, Rita Carosi, Graeme Cox, Kim Madden and Sue Poleweski Jones. Primarily landscape painters, they also delight in the human form. Their works, inspired by life drawing and the natural world, reveal how figure and landscape intertwine—art becoming not just what we see, but how we respond to the souls of people and place.
