Macleay Valley Community Art Gallery
Macleay Valley Community Art Gallery opens its September programme with two exhibitions that trace the breadth of local creative expression — from the exuberant energy of emerging young artists to the quietly contemplative work of established makers responding to nature, light and place.
Spring Into Art | Wed 2 Sept – Sun 13 Sept
Opening: Wed 2 Sept, 5.30pm–6.30pm
The Macleay Public Schools’ Spring Into Art exhibition gathers a rich and joyful body of work from students across the Macleay region. Spanning a range of styles, techniques and materials, the exhibition speaks to the imagination, skill and curiosity that flourish in classrooms where arts education is nurtured and celebrated. It is, above all, a vivid reminder of the power of young artists to surprise, delight and move an audience.
Visionary Vibes | Wed 16 Sept – Sun 27 Sept
Meet and Greet: Sat 19 Sept, 1pm–2pm | Artists: Trish Bennett, Katrina Fletcher and Cath Turnbull
Visionary Vibes brings together three artists whose practices are animated by the natural world, each drawing on landscape, sea, light and transformation in distinct but resonant ways.
Trish Bennett’s paintings are born from the exhilaration of painting en plein air, where colour, light and atmosphere combine in work that feels both immediate and deeply felt.
Cath Turnbull is an emerging multimedia artist whose abstract realist works reflect an interest in nature’s capacity to heal, shift and transform. Her practice moves between observation and interpretation, allowing the natural world to become both subject and emotional catalyst.
For Katrina Fletcher, the ocean is a lasting source of inspiration and stillness. In her work, its vastness, changing hues and rhythmic movement toward the shore become a meditation on calm, awe and connection.
