Et Tu Theatre
Local Independent theatre company Et Tu has a reputation for picking plays that pack a punch, and their October production at the Bellingen Memorial Hall of the award-winning Orphans by Dennis Kelly only builds on that.
Orphans starts with a date night, interrupted by a brother covered in blood. What comes next is a twisting story of how far people will go for their family – exploring foster care, generational damage, racism and the potential for violence in us all.
As with all Et Tu productions to date, there are moments of lightness. But this play also escalates at a pace that’s not always expected at the theatre.
Dennis Kelly’s Orphans won both the Edinburgh Fringe First Award and the Herald Angel Award when it was first staged in the UK in 2009. Both the exceptional storytelling, and relevance for audiences today, were key factors in Et Tu Theatre’s decision to produce the play.
Et Tu Theatre’s production runs October 1-11 at the Bellingen Memorial Hall Studio. Tickets for this intense, intimate studio theatre experience are available now at: ettuproductions.com/season. But with a history of selling out, don’t leave it too late.
